Human Tinnitus MP3 examples (not just high-pitches)
Other websites frequently give the situation of a single high-pitch tone. This is what a pipe organist might call a cipher (stuck note) for a pitch in the top octave of a 2' rank.
Below are some examples that re-create/simulate what some have experienced other than a single high-frequency pitch. We've not found similar audio examples, even tho there are similar descriptions and perception experiences.
- tinnitus-example-1 Congomeration of random high frequencies, sometimes reported as sounding like:
an aviary, spring peepers (frogs), etc.
- tinnitus-example-2 White noise (notch-filtered), sometimes reported as sounding like ocean waves, old-TV-channel "snow", hissing. It's interesting that some reported that the white noise can sometimes sound like human voices: Auditory pareidolia, occurs when the brain interprets random sounds or noise, like white noise, and fills in the gaps to perceive meaningful patterns, like voices or words. This may be what is happening when some people "perceive they are hearing voices" - perhaps they are not "crazy" but really are experiencing pareidolia. This might be akin to the visual interpretation of Rorcshach images where random ink blots "look like" physical things. A cousin effect might be the John Lilly "Cogitate Loop" tape where the repeated word "cogitate" begins to sound like many different words due to a brain that is bored (and creative!) or Semantic Satiation where the repetition starts to sound meaningless.
- tinnitus-example-3 A warbling, unsteady pitch that might be interpreted as the squeal of metal wheels (subways or carts), or whistling, or tea kettle whistles.
- Pulsatile examples and parameterizable app (free)
Some people might experience some or all of these at different times, perhaps even with the common high-pitch overlaid/composited on top.
